Mr. John David McIlwraith, Jr., age 44 of Dallas, GA died on May 10, 2011. Mr. McIlwraith was a native of Americus, GA born the son of the late John David McIlwraith and Judith Halley McIlwraith who survives him. Mr. McIlwraith was of the Presbyterian faith, 1985 graduate of Southland Academy and was a Narcotics Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations for 20 years. After retiring from the GBI he was employed with the Douglas County Sheriffs Department as a Deputy. David enjoyed cars, motorcycles, and hunting and was a beloved son and brother. In addition to his mother, Mr. McIlwraith is survived by his wife, Wendy McIlwraith, of Dallas, GA, two daughters, Sydney and Peyton Beck, of Dallas, GA; and one sister and brother-in-law Jill and Brian Turner of Americus, 3 nieces, Halley Katherine Turner, Elizabeth Scott Turner, and Rubye Caroline Turner. Also surviving are aunts and uncles J B and Patti Spencer, Allen Halley, and Drew and Tammie McIlwraith; cousins, Jeff and Tammy Spencer, Jennifer Spencer, Rusty and Traci Tondee, Shane and Christy Tondee, Renee Long, Mitzi and Greg Martin, Jeannine and Todd Warner, Jamie and Beverly Halley, Dana Halley, and Shannon and Armonda Garza. Memorials: The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The Peace Officers Association of Georgia PO Box 1040, Reidsville, Georgia 30453, or the charity of ones choice. Visitation: The Family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Judy McIlwraith, 175 Shiloh Road, Americus. Service: A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 11:00 am at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev Hugh Harbort officiating.
