Obituary

John Charles Halley, age 70, of 810 Copperhill Circle, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Monday, May 5, 2014. A native of Butler, he was born December 22, 1943, the son of the late William Halley and Rheba Stalnaker Daily. Charles attended Life Point Church of God. He was a very loving and caring husband and father. He always was willing to help others and enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Bro. Frank Thompson, Bro. Lanier Roberts and Bro. Bud Womack officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 7, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence. Pallbearers include Ches Goodin, Bobby Goodin, Mike Collins, Wade Sullivan, Brian Collins, Thomas Collins, Cole Hollifield and Austin Albright. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Phoebe Sumter Hospice, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, Ga. 31709, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or American Lung Association, Mail Processing Center, 6852 Belfort Oaks Place, Jacksonville, FL 32216-6241. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Evelain Halley of Americus; a daughter, Marie Halley of Gulf Breeze, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Tina Halley of Murfreesboro, TN; a step-mother, Gladys Halley of Louisiana; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte McLeroy of Americus, Brenda Sullivan of Americus, Donna and Joe Goodin of Smithville, Chris and Larry Holloman of Louisiana and Janice Halley of Louisiana; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnie and Mary Sue Collins of Americus, Junior and JoAnn Collins of Americus, Eddie Halley of Louisiana, Kenny Halley of Louisiana and Bill Halley of Louisiana; three grandchildren, Cole Hollifield, Austin Albright and Amber Mabry; and one great grandchild, Addison Mabry.
