John Arnold Durden (JD), 74, of Americus passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Durden was born on January 11, 1948, to the late Mr. John and Mrs. Verdie Mae Durden. He worked in law enforcement for most of adult life and was an only child. Mr. Durden was a simple man who loved his family dearly.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial with Rev. Curtis Moore officiating. The family will be greeting friends at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel Friday, April 29, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joy Durden of Americus; one son, Marty and LeLe Durden of Americus; one daughter, Kaye Durden of Americus; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Sumter Humane Society at 108 Industrial Blvd, Americus, GA 31719.
