John E. Bliss, Sr., 55, of Americus died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. A native of Roanoke Rapids, NC, he was born November 14, 1962 to the late Alfred Benedict Bliss and Susie Harlowe Bliss. He worked as a driver for Council on Aging and was a master skilled carpenter. As a loving father, step-father, grandfather, and brother, he was an inspiration to many. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Tiffni and Ronnie Holley of Americus and Sara Pergola of Thomaston; four sons and three daughters-in-law: John Bliss Jr. and April Huggler of Warner Robins, Justin and Tiffany Walton of Americus, Mathew and Donna McAlum of Thomaston, and Nicholas Pergola of Americus. Also surviving are three sisters: Robin Bliss, Janie Valcourt, and Sharon Bliss, all of North Carolina; and a brother, Roy Bliss of Virginia; eighteen grandchildren and his beloved dog, Bonnie.
