Jessie Walter Mims, 87, died Monday, May 29, 2017, at Bay Medical Sacred Heart hospital in Panama City, FL. He was born March 8, 1930 in Preston to the late Floyd Mims and Ella Adams Mims. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus with Rev. Robert Orr officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law: Billy and Jenny Mims of Gilman, IL, Jim Mims of Florida, George and Debra Mims of Americus, and Neal and Kelly Mims of Deatsville, AL; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Moncus, and a son, Johnny Mims. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, Ga 30384-9410.
