Janice R. Barfield, age 76, of 236 GA Hwy 45 N., Plains, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Sunday, June 15, 2014. A native of Buena Vista, she was born February 10, 1938, the daughter of the late George W. and Nannie Claire Carter Crawley. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 17, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the residence of Jody and Phyllis Barfield, 809-A Shiloh Rd. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gentiva Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Pkwy, Columbus, GA 31904 or to the charity of one's choice. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Noland Barfield of Plains; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Brian Justice of Ellaville; six sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barbara Peaster of Florence IN, Dale and Allison Peaster of Plains, Jerry and Shari Barfield of Americus, Jody and Phyllis Barfield of Americus, Richard and Sherry Barfield of Columbus and Donald Barfield of Plains; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Abb Preston of Americus; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
