James "Jimmy" Watts Belcher, age 78, of 1137 U.S. Highway 19 South, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. A native of Rome, he was born June 19, 1936, the son of the late Raymond and Pauline Belcher. James was a construction worker and retired from Reeves Construction Company. He was of the Baptist faith. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the residence of Michael Belcher, 343 Middle River Road, Americus. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice. Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Graham of Marietta and Jenifer Payne of Woodstock, as well as a son, Marty Belcher of Leesburg; sister, Sandra Upchurch of Conyers; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Becher, as well as two sons, Ronnie and Lonnie Belcher.
