James Ronald Phillips, age 73, of Plains, died November 13, 2019, at his residence. A native of Quitman, he was born April 28, 1946. He loved working on and restoring antique cars. He was a history buff and was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans. Music was big part of his life and worked at WDEC at one time. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with his brother Jon Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 12:00-1:00 P.M at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Phillips of Plains; two daughters, Parker(Clay) Lambert of Thomasville, Candice Branche of Covington; two sons, Preston(Jessica) Phillips of Americus and Peyton Phillips of Plains; two sisters, Sarah(Ken) Wilson of Crestview, FL., Karen(Joel) Richardson of Niceville, FL.; four brothers, Jon(Nova) Phillips of Pensacola, FL., James E. Phillips, Jr(Debbie) of Crestview, FL., Joseph Phillips of Navarre, FL., and Jeff(Melinda) Phillips of Greenville, TX.; and five grandchildren, Lexie Branche, Lindsey Branche, Mason Phillips, Emberly Phillips, and Natalie Phillips. He is preceded in death by his brother Jason Phillips and parents James and Ruby Phillips.
