James "Jim" Edgar Looney, 69, of Americus, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his home. Born June 1, 1949 in Chattanooga, TN, his parents were the late James William Looney and Lydia Louise Kelley Looney. He worked for both the Americus Police Department and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus. James Green will officiate the service. Survivors include his wife, Terry Looney of Americus; daughter, Brooklyn Looney of Atlanta; son, Brandon Looney of Kennesaw; sister, Sheila Wren of Mt. Juliet, TN; and a brother, Ron Looney of Chickamauga. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
