IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Imogene
Marchant
August 17, 1933 – June 22, 2020
Jacqueline Imogene Weeks Marchant, better known as Imo or "Imo the Dynamo", went home into the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 22, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents Augustus(Gus) and Agnes Weeks, and husband Charlie Marchant, the former GBI Agent and Chief of Police with whom she was married more than 50 years and a brother Stuart Kelly Weeks. Imogene lives on in her two children, Pamela Marchant Dowdy(Tom) and Rodney Scott Marchant(Lynn), Grandchildren Clyde Richard Merritt III, Lauren Leigh Marchant Wall(Jared), Kelly Marchant and two Great Grandchildren Mae Wall and Thomas Wall. She is also survived by her sisters Jo Ann Brooks, Maxine Lindsey(Bill), and Peggy Weeks; and by close friend William Clark, and numerous nieces and nephews. Imo the Dynamo lived up to her name. She attended Norman and Berry Colleges, and though she planned on pursuing missionary work, marriage changed her plans, so she believed her mission was to raise her family. She worked as a secretary at the Americus City School System. She worked for the county agent extension service and mentored young people through the 4-H Club. Additionally, she was active in her Lee Street UMC, a leader in the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School most of her adult life, was supportive of mission work, and was a member of the Dogwood Garden Club and Book Club and she was a member of Sumter County Educators. Imogene leaves a lasting legacy and an equally lasting void. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMW or Lee Street UMC 1102 S Lee St. Americus, GA 31709. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 29,2020 at 10:00 AM at Andersonville National Cemetery.
