Hubert Carter Maddox, Jr., age 79, of 322 Wildwood Circle, died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Sunday, January 25, 2015. A native of Rochelle, he was born June 2, 1935. . He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a medic and went on to receive his Registered Nurse's degree and also a Master of Divinity degree. He was a Registered Nurse Educator at South Georgia College in Douglas and at Clemson University and his last pastorate was St. Clare Episcopal Church in Blairsville, GA. A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1122, Americus, Ga. 31709 or to the church or charity of one's choice. Survivors include his wife, Martha Schwab Maddox of Americus; a daughter, Grace Maddox of Lyons, CO.; a step daughter, Colleen Sprayberry of Newnan; a son, Hubert Carter Maddox III (Trey) of Lyons, CO.; a step son, Paul David Lipsey of Newnan; and a brother-in-law, Norton Futch of Americus; grandsons, Tyler Lipsey, Clark Lipsey, Stephen Sprayberry, Jr., Wallace Sprayberry and two great-grandsons, Tyler Paul Lipsey and Davis Clark Lipsey.
