Mr. Howard Adams, age 94, of 127 Holley Street, Leslie, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Sumter Regional Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, June 29, 2009 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Webster County with Rev. Joe Bateman officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Nick Adams, Bill Adams, Gene Adams, Tony Adams, Franklin Adams and Larry Adams. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 5716 Macedonia Church Road, Preston, Ga. 31824. A native of Webster County, Mr. Adams was born September 10, 1914, son of the late Joseph Elrie Adams and the late Julia Wills Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Winifred Lerene Hines Adams, on May 22, 2007. He was a retired foreman with Seaboard Coastline Railroad after thirty-eight years of service and attended Leslie United Methodist Church. He loved to fish and hunt with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Margie Adams of Decatur; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Paula Adams of Leslie; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Adams and Nadine and Wilson Fraizer all of Union City; one brother, J.E. Adams of Moniray, Ca.; one sister-in-law, Sara Adams of Quincy, Fl.; two grandchildren, Eddie Adams and Angela Horne both of Smithville and one great-grandchild, Meadow Adams.
