Harvey Leon White, age 61, of 171 Joe Stewart Rd., Leslie, died Friday, August 19, 2011, at his residence. A native of Sumter County, Mr. White was born August 30, 1950, the son of the late Esco and Lucille Holloway White. He was of the Methodist faith and was a self employed truck driver. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709 or to United Hospice of Cordele, 407 E 16th Ave., Cordele, Ga. 31015. Survivors include two daughters, Becky White of Americus and Genia Etheredge of Sylvester; a son, Tommy White of Leslie; a brother, Benny White of Americus and two grandchildren.
