Glenda Mays Lowe (86) of Americus, GA, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025 at her residence in Americus.

Mrs. Lowe was born in Americus on September 30, 1938, to John Deward (J.D.) Mays and Evelyn Joiner Mays.

Glenda grew up in Americus and graduated from Americus High School, Georgia Southwestern College and Valdosta State University with a B.S. degree in Accounting. In 1959, she married her college sweetheart and the love of her life Bobby Lowe. They raised three children Russ, Tracy and Roger. They lived many years in Ellaville, GA, where Glenda worked as an accountant for the Schley County Commissioners office as well as for private individuals. She and Bobby moved back to Americus in their later years.

Glenda (and Bobby) both loved the Lord and were always very active in the churches they attended. They were founding members of Cornerstone Church in Americus, and Glenda actually designed the church building and served on the decorating committee as well as other ministries. They later became members of Central Baptist Church where Glenda attended as a child

Glenda was very talented, creative and organized! She could plan a theme party or special event, teach a Sunday School class, design a church building or office building, as well as plan every detail of several homes she and Bobby built. She loved music, singing, and playing her autoharp for home Bible studies. Glenda also enjoyed oil painting, scrapbooking, video editing of family photos and keepsakes, and interior decorating. She also loved traveling with Bobby and other family members and friends and visited many places through the years.

Most of all, Glenda was a cherished wife, Mom, Grandmom, and Great Grandmom. She loved her family and always enjoyed spending time and making special memories with each of them. Glenda leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and joy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her three children, Russ (Maggie) Lowe of Ellijay, GA, Tracy (Steve) Sykes of Thomasville, GA, and Roger (Melissa) Lowe of Americus; her grandchildren Brandon (Crystal) Lowe, Heather Lowe, Jared Lowe, Courtney (Stephen) Stubley, Natalie (Ben) Dodgen, Kassidy (Will) Ellerbee, Kandice (John John) Wojnar, Matt Lowe (fiancé Dunlie Castleberry), Angela (Sean) Kennedy, Alyson (Amos) Sparks and Stephen Sykes; and her great grandchildren Emmitt, Beckham, Journey, Emma Jane, Madison, Palmer, Cooper, Roman, Symphony Kadence and Stella.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bobby Lowe, her parents-in-law John Madison Lowe and Fran Hendricks Lowe, stepmother Evelyn Frederick Mays and son-in-law Larry Stephens.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 2:00 pm, at Central Baptist Church located at 190 Upper River Road, in Americus. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
