Gladys Pope Ellis, age 95, of 2001 S. Lee St., died at Magnolia Manor Friday, January, 18, 2013. A native of Coffee County, AL., she was born March 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Charles Tip and Unice Folsom Pope. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was raised in Americus and her and her late husband Hubert returned here in 1999 to reside at Magnolia Manor. A celebration of Mrs. Ellis's life will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the Martha McDonald Moore Chapel at Magnolia Manor with Rev. Matt Stewart officiating. A private burial will be held following the service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to League of the Good Samaritan, Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, Ga. 31709 or Lee St. United Methodist Church, 1102 S. Lee St., Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Pope and Elaine M. Henderson of Americus; two grandchildren, Alan Henderson and Joni Per-Lee; four great grandchildren, Katelyn and Abigail Per-Lee and Dennis and Kenneth Henderson; a sister, Mary Wolfe of Macon and a brother, Charles Tip Pope of Americus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert H. Ellis. Cemetery: Private Burial
