Geraldine Jerry Howell Abbott Geraldine Jerry Howell Abbott, age 87, of 768 US Hwy 19 S, Americus, died July 7, 2011 at her residence. A native of Plains, she was born February 28, 1924 the daughter of the late Gordon B. and Effie Johnson Howell, Sr. Mrs. Abbott was a high school graduate and attended the Patterson Business School in Americus. She was employed by the Bank of Commerce as a book keeper for a number of years; she was also a clerk at McConnells. Mrs. Abbott was of member of Lee Street United Methodist church and was also a member of Benevolence United Methodist Church until it closed. Graveside services will be held Saturday July 9, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Matt Stewart, Rev. Eddie Braswell and Rev. John Clements officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, July 8, 2011 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel from 6 until 8 PM and at other times at the family residence, 768 US Hwy. 19 S, Americus. Survivors include her son, Aubrey Abbott of Americus; a faithful friend, neighbor, and care giver, Nell Oliver; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Paul Buddy Abbott on December 19,1999; two brothers, Clifton J. Howell and Gordon B. Bubba Howell; and two sisters, Opal Howell Peel and Helen Howell Bone.
