Obituary

George Ethridge Hancock, age 76, of 962 Highway 27, Lumpkin, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Columbus Hospice. A native of Webster County, he was born October 7, 1937, the son of the late Ethridge Albritton and Bronnie Lucille Morgan Hancock. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a Game Warden with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for thirty years. He served as the Magistrate Judge for Stewart County for eight years. He enjoyed the outdoors and raising his livestock; he was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Cadenhead and Rev. Robert Orr officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 9, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers include Steve Miller, Wayne Lyles, David Barrett, Bobby Greene, Joel Robinson and Bill House. Honorary Pallbearers include Hamer Cook. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909. Survivors include a daughter and fiance' Teri Hancock and Shanon Webb of Cusseta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Tiersa Hancock of Charlston, SC. and Tim and Becky Hancock of Simpsonville, SC; six grandchildren, Travis Hancock, Christine Karl, Matt Hancock, Ellen Hancock, Logan Hancock and Lucas Hancock; and also four great grandchildren.
