Elizabeth Tyner Averett, age 91, of 107 Sylvan Road, Americus, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Taylor County Health and Rehab in Butler. A native of Phoenix City, AL, she was born November 4, 1921, the daughter of the late Riley T. and Neomia Young Walker. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for Manhatten Shirt Factory. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday , January 4, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Garden with Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. The family will receive friends at Central Baptist Church following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Home, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281 or a charity of one's choice. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Averett of Americus and Shirley Ashcraft of Reynolds; three sisters, Laler Mae Arnold, Ruby Yawn and Frances Halstead, all of Americus; one grandchild, Beth Hill of Tampa, FL; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Hill of Macon, Melissa and Chris Scott, Travis and Holly Goodin, and Chris Goodin, all of Butler, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband ,John Henry Averett; two brothers, Fred Walker and Javers Walker and a grandson, Gregg Goodin.
