Dorothy Jean Carpenter Williamson, 93, of Athens, formerly of Americus, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her home. A native of Oklahoma, she was born August 19, 1924 to the late Charlie Clayton Carpenter and Blanche Allen Carpenter. She loved cats and gardening. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus with Rev. William Hall officiating. Survivors include her son, John Paul Williamson, Jr. of Athens, and a brother, Clayton Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Williamson. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 2nd St. E, Tifton, GA 31794. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
