Doris Spradlin, lovingly known as Mema, rocked her last time on her rocking chair on June 1, 2024, at the age of 89. Doris was a woman who always had a positive outlook on life, she had a great sense of humor, and loved her family until her last breath.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Lee and Reverand William; her brother, Cecil; and her husband, Elton. She is survived by her three children, Jim, Chris, and Nancy; her 6 grandchildren, Shanna, Leslie, Amanda, Jeffrey, Savannah and Harrison; and 6 great-grandchildren, Parker, Emerson, Ramsey, Zoey, Lily, and Levi.
Doris retired as a secretary from Georgia Southwestern University where she spent the majority of her career. When she was not working, she loved to read, sew, watch hallmark movies, and listen to Elvis' music. She loved her grandchildren fiercely. She took them to Mema's Beach and educated them on classics like Gone with the Wind and North and South. You could always find Doris with a sweet treat, especially if it was chocolate.
We are sad that we cannot have you Doris, but we are happy to know that Heaven has you back.
A Celebration of life will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Americus, GA with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Doris's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Cancer Society- https://raiseyourway.donordrive.com/campaign/ln-Memory-of-Doris-Spradlin
