Doris Dean Shuler Schmidt, age 63, of 335 Watermelon Rd., died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center July 11, 2012. A native of Talledaga, AL., she was born August 8, 1948 the daughter of the late Austin Monroe Shuler and Jessie Evelyn Jennings McMachon. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Andersonville National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Mark Word of Smithville, Debbie and John Swackhammer of Wimauma, FL and Faye and Bill Richard of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Polk of Venice, FL; a sister, Linda Adkins and a brother, William Shuler both of Florida; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
