Mrs. Doretta Barnes Taylor, age75 of DeSoto, died on Wednesday October 27, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Mrs. Taylor was born April 14, 1935 the daughter of the late Howard and Eva Mae Barnes in Macon County. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Americus. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Rev James Dumus and Rev. Andy Hines officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mack Barnes, 2299 GA Hwy 27 East. The family request memorial contributions be made to Eastside Baptist Church, GA Hwy 27 East, Americus, GA 31709. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mr. Leon Taylor, two daughters Joyce Fountain, and Audrey Taylor, and one son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Gloria Taylor. Also surviving is one brother Mack Barnes, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son Richard Gary Taylor in 1996 and one brother Buddy Barnes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Barnes, Cody Taylor, Shannon Taylor, Dave Garcia, C J Fountain, and Joey Barnes.
