Dale Stephen Brooks, Sr., 77, of Americus, died Saturday, November 7, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 11, 2026 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A native of Pavo, GA, he was born in Barwick, GA to the late Benjamin David and Bronie Virginia Brooks. He was the owner / operator of Gear Master Transmission Shop. Mr. Brooks was an avid Bulldawgs fan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother and five sisters, and a granddaughter, Alanna Fox.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Velma Brandon Brooks, his children: DJ Brooks (Jessica), Lisa Tanner (Ernie), Ginny Wiesner, (Marco) and DeAnna Verneau (Bruce); seven grandchildren: Colton and Olivia Brooks, Dillon Still (Rebecca), David Still (Jessica) Stephen Taggart, Brooke Wiesner and Caitlain Fox; his five great-grandchildren: Zachary Still, William Still, Emerson Still, Emery Fox, and Charlie Still.
