Dr. Clinton Max Holloway, age 82, of Plains, died at Lillian Carter Health and Rehab in Plains, Friday, August 9, 2019. A native of Americus, he was born March 4, 1937, to the late Bertrum Ernest and Mary Alice Holloway. He was a member of Plains Baptist Church and Plains Lions Club since 1962 and held multiple leadership positions in Georgia. He also was a leader in the South Georgia chapter of the Georgia State Gospel Singing Convention since 1985 including president two different years. Dr. Holloway was a 1955 honor graduate from Plains High School and attended Georgia Southwestern and ABAC. He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and practiced veterinary medicine in Sumter County for 56 years. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Buck Kenney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and one hour following the service at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the residence of Laura and Jimmy Faircloth. Burial will be private. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Ricky Burgess of Americus, Laura and Jimmy Faircloth of Americus and Lynn Farmer of Plains; a son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Lisa Holloway of Plains; three brothers and sister-in-law, Alfred and Beverly Holloway of Wichita Falls, TX, Thomas Holloway of Americus and Donald Holloway of Americus; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Plains Baptist Church, 301 Bond St., Plains, GA 31780, Plains Lions Club, Paschal St., Plains, GA 31780 or to Phoebe Sumter Hospice, 126 E Furlow St., Americus, GA 31709.
