Charles Irving Wheeler, age 67, of Andersonville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on June 21, 2025. Born on December 10, 1957, in Hartford, Connecticut, Charles was a proud American who lived a life defined by love, hard work, and dedication to his family and country.
A devoted husband, Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Lola Wheeler, with whom he shared a life filled with laughter and love. The couple made their home in Andersonville after moving from Wylam, Alabama in 2009. Charles retired from a long and respected career as a truck driver, having worked for SMX Trucking Company and Bruno's Warehouse before retiring in 2006.
Charles served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, a service he remained proud of throughout his life. His commitment to his work and his country was only surpassed by the deep devotion he had for his family.
He was the son of the late Charles Edward Wheeler and Selvie Floyd. He is preceded in death by his brother Lewis Smith. Charles is also survived by his brothers Robert Smith, Ward Marshall, and Boe Marshall, and by his sisters Wendy Smith and Vala Bennet. As well as his wife's sister Helen (Everett) Brown.
Though he and Lola did not have children, Charles cherished his role as a brother, husband, and friend. He was known for his warm heart, love of video games on the computer, and his deep affection for his family. He found joy in simple pleasures and was always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.
Charles was a high school graduate and a man of quiet faith. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the lasting impact he had on those who knew and loved him.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at their family home in Andersonville.
