Mr. Charles Warren Massey, age 88, of Americus, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Phoebe Sumter Hospital. A native of Marietta, Ga., Mr. Massey was born August 12, 1921, the son of the late Marcus Patterson and Evor Mae Mitchell Massey. Mr. Massey was retired from CSX railroad, and was an avid gardener, cook and Georgia Bulldog fan. He was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church and a former member of Fairburn United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn, Ga. with Rev. Mathew Stewart and Rev. Vicki Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 31, from 5 until 7 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and on Thursday, April 1, from 5 until 7 PM at Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn, Ga. Memorial contributions may be made to Lee Street United Methodist Church, 1102 S. Lee St., Americus, Ga. 31709 or to the charity of ones choice. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bernice Jones Massey of Americus; one daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and Ron Cochran of Americus; one son, Alan Charles Massey of Douglasville; four grandchildren, Chuck and Kristin Massey of Villa Rica, Brad and Heather Massey of Douglasville, Cam and Jill Cochran of Americus and Kaylin and Jonathan Deal of Moulton, Al.; six great grandchildren, Shelby and C.J. Massey, Madison and Nicolas Massey and Camie and Camille Cochran; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to Lee Street United Methodist Church, 1102 S.
