Charles W. "Chuck" Polk, age 79, of 209 Shirley Road, died at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Sunday, November 29, 2015. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 6 to 7 pm at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. At other times friends may call at the family residence, 209 Shirley Road. Mr. Polk was born June 19, 1936 in Trenton, Florida. He married Josephine Roberts Polk on December 8, 1956. They would have been married 59 years on December 8, 2015. Mr. Polk loved teaching and was a teacher for many years in Americus. He served in the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Josephine Roberts Polk; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles T. Polk (Pat) of Mableton, Georgia, Shelby Polk (Sharan) and Ronald Monroe Polk (Michelle) all of Americus. Four grandchildren, Heather Danielle Richard (Dustin), Amanda Michelle Polk, Nicholas Monroe Polk and Cameron Monroe Polk; three great grandchildren, Gracelyn Walls, Brianna Richard and Delilah Walls and one sister, Betty Jean Sutton of Florida also survive.
