Catherine Mitchell Smith, age 96, of Richland, Ga., died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Stewart Webster Hospital. A native of Shieldhills Scotland, Mrs. Smith was born April 8, 1914, the daughter of William and Jesse Sharp Mitchell. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Americus and loved to crochet, read and paint. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matt Stewart and Rev. Dave Omerod officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 125 S Jackson St., Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include three grandchildren, Kelly and Tim Faircloth, Kay Halstead and Bill and Jill Halstead; seven great- grandchildren, Timmy Faircloth, Lauren Faircloth, Nina Garcia, Scott Bailey, Brad Bailey and Jasmine Halstead; three great- great- grandchildren, Owen Bailey, Madison Garcia and Austin Garcia and a number of nieces and nephews.
