Mrs. Caroline Bowen Sanders, age 78, of Andersonville, died on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Mrs. Sanders was a native of Sumter County, born the daughter of the late William Edenfield and Margaret Osteen Bowen. She was a retired secretary for the State of Georgia and a member of Morningside United Methodist church, where she served as secretary and treasurer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM from the graveside, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Stalvey officiating. The family request memorial be made to Morningside United Methodist Church, PO Box 6687, Americus GA 31709. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gena and Bobby Legg, of Andersonville, GA; one brother, Vernon Bowen, of West Virginia, one great grandchild, Caroline Wellons, of Columbus, GA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Sanders, her granddaughter, Leslie Legg, and one sister, Gloria Millwood.
