Obituary

Early on Easter Sunday morning, April 12, 2020, Carlton Dwayne Satterfield passed away after a brief hospitalization due to sudden illness with Covid-19. He was being treated at Phoebe Putney in Albany. He was 63 years old and had lived his entire life in Americus, GA. He had been a resident of Perfect Care since 2006 following the death of his beloved mother, Geraldine Satterfield. His father, Carl Satterfield, also preceded him in death. Dwayne loved sports from the time he was a young boy and played in little league and church leagues while growing up. If he wasn't playing ball, he was there watching the games. He was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and Falcons, and the only reason he would miss 4 o'clock Sunday Service is if the Falcons were playing. He knew the players, their positions, and the game schedules. He also enjoyed playing video games. He was a help to many of the other residents of Perfect Care. He liked to tease and always had a smile and good word for everyone. He enjoyed the special events and especially the pastors and singing groups that visited. He looked forward each month to lunch with the Sunshine Club. He will be missed by his special friends, Leigh Anderson and Mary Wardell, also residents of Perfect Care. He had been a member of Faith Baptist Church and also attended Eastside Baptist Church. On his birthday each year, he liked to go to one of his favorite restaurants, Zaxby's or Burger King. He also enjoyed going to Walmart to buy his "treats," as he called them. He is survived by his Aunt Carol Wiggins who looked after him following the death of his mother along with support from his Uncle RJ Satterfield (now deceased) and Aunt Jackie Satterfield, of Santa Rosa, FL. Other survivors include Aunt Evelyn Wiggins of Americus and many cousins. A private burial will be held on April 14 at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church where Dwayne will be laid to rest alongside his mother and father.
