Calvin Hassel Parker, 87, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at DeKalb Medical Center in Atlanta. A native of Georgia, he was born October 25, 1928 in Americus. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a 33 year store manager for Goodyear, and a veteran/paratrooper of the United States Army. He participated as a clown for the Sumter Shrine Club and was a member of the MB Council Lodge #13 F&AM. A cancer and heart attack survivor, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved fishing, hunting, dining at Daphne Lodge, and air shows. His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Golden will officiate his services and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Survivors include two daughters: Lisa Logue of Gainesville and Linda Keene of Lady Lakes; a son, Wayne Parker of Cobb; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Lydia Patrick Parker and Eston B. Parker; and his wife, Betty Rose Berry Parker. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 846 Lane Store Rd., Americus, GA 31709.
