Callie Fletcher Satterfield was born in Schley County on June 27, 1921 to Allen Clay Fletcher, Sr. and Lillie Murphy Fletcher. She was educated in the Schley County Schools and attended Georgia Southwestern College. She was the wife of the late E.J. (Buck) Satterfield (deceased). Of this union they had three children: C. Roland Satterfield (June) and Kay S. Edmunds (Fred) both of Americus, and Ronnie M. Satterfield (deceased) (Judy) of Cartersville. She is survived by the following eight grandchildren: E. Randall Satterfield (Terri) of Americus; Paige S. Dudley (Bill) of Columbus; Carla S. Turner (Ty) of Thomasville; Dawn S. Sumerford (Peter) of Birmingham, AL; Angela C. Satterfield of Sandy Springs; Courtney E. Jacobs (Gabe) of Americus; Whitney E. Kieschnick (Brian) of Abilene, TX; and Lauren E. Nolan (David) of Atlanta. She also had fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also will be missed by many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings: Clay Fletcher, Fannie Mae Kiesewetter, Lorraine Slappey, and Quenelle Wynn. Callie was a Christian homemaker and the oldest living member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a Willie Bailey Circle member, a Women's Missionary Union participant, a Girl's Auxiliary leader, Sunday School teacher, and Sword Drill director in Baptist Training Union. Caring for her family and her home was her greatest joy. Known for her caramel cakes, tea cakes and Toll House cookies, she was an excellent cook. A source of great pride for her was tending her yard and flowers. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their various activities. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Golden officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 846 Lane Store Rd., Americus, GA 31709. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of these arrangements.
