Brenda Lee Barry Thaxton, age 51, of 506 Sumter St., Montezuma, died at Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma, Monday, September 26, 2011. A native of Savannah, she was born January 2, 1960 the daughter of Charles Bernie Barry, Sr. and Ruby Lee Walker Yawn. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She went home to celebrate her grandson, Austin's birthday with him in Heaven. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev Andy Hines officiating. The family will receive friends at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel one hour prior to service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ., 08002. Survivors include her mother, Ruby Yawn of Americus; her father, Charles Barry, Sr., of Americus; her daughter, Shanna Mayo of Warner Robins; her son, Eston Thaxton, Jr. of Gadsden, AL; two sisters, Jeana Yawn of Americus and Michele Gilbert of Americus; a brother, Bernie Barry, Jr. of Americus; six grandchildren, Sarah Miranda, Shaun Cox, Cameron Mayo, Alex Gary, Leigha Gary and Trey Thaxton. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Gary.
