Betty Adel Tucker Stanford, age 79, of 380 Ga. Highway 118, Leslie, died at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center Saturday, November 17, 2012. A native of Lee County, she was born June 11, 1933, the daughter of the late Johnie Robert and Elizabeth Scott Tucker. Betty was a faithful member of Leslie Baptist Church where she served for many years in the WMU , Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday School, mission trips and singing in the choir. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a cafeteria supervisor at Smithville Academy, Lee County Schools and Union High School as well as a bookkeeper and sales at Leslie Hardware. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Leslie Baptist Church with Rev. Jim English and Rev. Chuck Poplin officiating church service and Rev. Scott Tucker officiating the graveside service at Leslie City Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jess Jones, Stan Jones, Brent Stanford, Cody Jones, Mark Douglas and Robert Douglas, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Deriso and David Deriso. The family will receive friends Monday, November 19, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Leslie Baptist Church, 106 S. Bailey Ave., Leslie, GA. 31764. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, James Howard Stanford, Sr. of Leslie; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Lynn Stanford, Jr. of Leslie; a sister, Elaine and Robert Douglas of Montezuma; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Tucker of Smithville; two sister-in-laws, Myrtle Adkins of Americus and Loraine Jones of Cordele; a brother-in-law, Bill Stanford of Leesburg; three grandchildren, Brian and Angela Deriso of Atlanta, Julie and Brandon Mercer of Watkinsville and Andy and Tina Stanford of Albany; three great-grandchildren and one expected great- grandchild, Emily and Lydia Deriso, Aiden Wooden and Baby Mercer; and also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Glynise"Sissy" Anne Stanford Deriso and a brother, Johnie R. Tucker, Jr. Cemetery: Leslie City Cemetery
