Frances Elizabeth Anderson, age 86, of 211 Ga Hwy 27 E., died at Autumn Breeze Assisted Living and Nursing Home in Gainesville, Ga. Sunday, March 23, 2014. A native of Americus, she was born August 13, 1927, the daughter of the late James Robert and Martha Elizabeth Dunaway Hamilton. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus where she served as a volunteer setting up coffee for the Epworth Sunday School Class every Sunday, helping with Wednesday night supper every Wednesday and helping count offerings on Sundays. She was a past Vice President of First Federal Savings and Loan and retired from Sumter Bank and Trust. Betty was an usher at the Rylander Theatre and was also recently awarded the lifetime membership award for the Georgia Southwestern State University Alumni Association. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Americus with Rev. Jim Smith and Rev. Bill Dupree officiating. Burial will follow at Rehoboth Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence, 211 Ga Hwy 27 E. Pallbearers include her seven grandsons. Honorary pallbearers include Marlene and Clarence Cromer, Butch Killebrew, Lewis and Beth Webb, Faye Knight, Lela Belle Wilson, Pam Law, Betty Shattles and members of the Epworth Sunday School Class. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to GSW Foundation, P.O. Box 926, Americus, GA 31709 or to First United Methodist Church, 200 S Lee St., Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Darrell Weldon of Ringgold, GA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Donna Anderson of Gainesville, Terry Anderson of Flowery Branch and Randy and Debbie Anderson of Cordele; 12 grandchildren, Marilyn Anderson, Shelley Anderson, Blake Anderson, Katlin Anderson, Victoria Anderson, Jessica Anderson, Scott Anderson, Barry Anderson, Tom Weldon, Gage Weldon, Ryan Weldon and Daniel Weldon; and 12 great grandchildren.
