Bernice Hewett, 79, of Americus, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1939 in Polk County, FL, to the late Steven Bertie Tyre and Buelah Corleen Wofford Tyre. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include her two daughters: Vickie Pate of Americus and Kathleen Roberts of Eidson, TN; two sons: David Hogg of Americus and Randy Hewett of Tampa, FL; three sisters: Genita Highsmith of Sorrento, FL, June Russell of Johnson City, TN, Evelen Wainwright of Sorrento, FL; and two brothers: Len Tyre and J.C. Tyre, both of Kissimee, FL. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
