Barbara “Bobbie” Ellen Chitwood, 73, of Americus, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at her residence, following a long battle with cancer.

A native and lifelong resident of Americus, she was the daughter of Ruby Jones and the late Phillip Storey.  Mrs. Chitwood was a member of Life Point Church. She retired from Cooper Lighting where she worked in customer service.

She was preceded in death by her father and a grandson, Brandon Long.

Mrs. Chitwood is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry Chitwood; a son, Shannon Long (Wendy); a grandson, Tyler Long; her mother, Ruby Jones; six siblings: Cindy Carnes, Bonnie Everett, Linda Joiner (Lewis), David Storey (Lisa), Darrell Storey (Darlene), Christi Roth (Parker).
