Mr. Arlis Powell Mr. Arlis Powell, age 85, of Cobb, GA, died at his residence on March 28, 2021. Mr. Powell was a native and lifetime resident of Sumter county, born June 23, 1935, the son of the late John Thomas and Willa Young Powell. Mr. Powell retired from Citizens Telephone Company, where he worked in the maintenance department, and was also a farmer for several years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, gardening, and hunting and fishing. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, with Rev. Brian Bentley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Reflections Hospice, 202 E 4th Ave, Cordele, GA 31015. The following will serve as honorary pallbearers, Lance Richards, Niles Sikking, Caleb Askew, Jason Ergle, LTC Clayton Bagwell, Tommy Stephens, and Kevin McCorckle. Mr. Powell is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Harold Ergle, of Cordele GA, and Jan and Jesse McCorkle, of Cobb, GA; one brother and sister-in-law, Tye and Carolyn Powell, of Ellaville, GA; four grandchildren, Crystal Askew, Jason Ergle, Kimberly Bagwell, and Jessica Richards and ten great grandchildren, Niles Sikking, Shelby Sikking, Caleb Askew, Sydney Kate Bagwell, Preston Ergle, Emma Mae Ergle, Anderson Bagwell, Riner Richards, Madalyn Richards, and Maci Coleman. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Mae Powell, four brothers, Hosey Powell, Billy Powell, J. T. Powell, and Franklin Powell; and five sisters, Katherine Phelps, Willa Ruth Powell, Evelyn Kinstley, Virginia Jordan and Juanita Brown.
