Obituary

Ann Horton Reeves Ann Horton Reeves of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Americus went to be with her Lord and reunion with family and friends Friday, March 13, 2009. She was born May 14, 1916 in Floyd County, Georgia to the late Rolan George Horton and Eva Terrell Horton. She is preceded in death by Edd Reeves her husband of 55 years, two brothers Roy Horton and Robert Horton and her sister Lizetta Horton Tipton. She graduated from Armurchee High School, was a long time resident of Sumter County, a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Training Union and Girls Auxillary as well as a member of the Elizabeth Smith Sunday School Class. She was actively involved with the County Home Demonstration Club in the New Era Community where she participated in various arts and crafts. Ann was instrumental in beginning the Hospice of Americus and Sumter County and volunteered several years before moving to Atlanta. Her work ethic, passion to help others and to be a servant of the Lord as well as her desire to raise her children to have the same character as Jesus Christ was her life long work. She is survived by her children; Charles (Kay) Reeves of St. Simon, Georgia, Joann (Jerry) Brittingham of Atlanta, Georgia, Dan (Pam) Reeves of Atlanta, Georgia and Butch-Roy Don (Barbara) Reeves of Greenville, South Carolina; sisters-in-law Jewel Reeves of Americus, Georgia, Avalee Horton of Rome, Georgia and Jane Reeves Hendricks of Jacksonville, Florida; ten grandchildren and their spouses and twenty one great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Sanders, 120 Old Stage Road, Andersonville, Georgia from 5:00-7:00 PM. The celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Golden officiating. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandson-in-law Chuck Reeves, Chan Reeves, Dallas Reeves, Justin Reeves, Lee Reeves, Charles Ray Sheffield, Jason Teague and her nephew Gary Reeves. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P.O.
