Alfred Eugene Powell, 81, of Leslie, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. He was born January 4, 1937 in Vienna to the late Julius Floyd Powell and Lena Pearl Smith Powell. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Americus. He dearly loved his family, his animals, and his flowers. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus. Rev. Randy Langford will officiate the service. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Powell; two daughters and son-in-law: Debora Powell of Cordele and Marie and David Price of Homosassa, FL; three sons and daughter-in-law: Murray and Cathy Powell of DeSoto, Douglas Powell and Casie Ryan of Columbus; and Jonathan Powell of Leslie. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jessie Rees, Nikole Freeman, Dayton Powell, and Madelyne Roland; and three great-grandchildren: Olyvia Freeman, Davin Rees, and Ethan Rees. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracia Kirkpatrick; and two grandsons: Marcus Powell and Colby Powell. Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
