Obituary

Mr. Alexander Jackson Rowe, age 61, of 162 Pearl Dr., Americus, died March 16, 2010, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany. Mr. Rowe, a native of Sumter County was born August 26, 1948 the son of Grantland Gray Rowe and Arrie Melton Rowe. Mr. Rowe was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Sons of Confederate Veterans and retired from Life of Georgia and American General Insurance Company. He was the owner of Hub Shoe Shop since 1990 and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lowell Layman officiating. The family will receive friends at the family residence, 162 Pearl Drive, Americus. Honorary pall bearers include Larry Underwood, Stan Folsom, Ronnie Bryan, Walton Grant, Brian Gregory, Warren Tyler, Ray Thompson and Arthur Miller. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 903 Upper River Rd., Americus, Ga. 31709, Americus and Sumter County Hospice, PO Box 1434, Americus, Ga. 31709 and American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Ave., Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include his wife, Susan Ansley Rowe of Americus; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alex and Colleen Rowe of Albany and Grant Rowe of Atlanta; grandchildren, Grantland Gray Rowe, Rachel McKenzie Rowe, Emily Alexis Rowe and Presley Anne Rowe, Jonathan David Gilliam, Taylor Nicole Gilliam and Natalie Elizabeth Crosby and one great grandchild, Kelcie Elizabeth Crosby.
