Obituary for Willie Kate Underwood

Willie Kate Underwood, age 81, of 683 Brady Rd., died at her residence Sunday morning, June 29, 2014. A native of Slocomb, AL., she was born June 24, 1933, the daughter of the late James Gordon and Willie Lenora Lewis Hallford. Mrs. Underwood was a member of Williams Road Church of Christ and was the owner of Joe Underwood Trucking. She was a loving wife and mother. Services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Williams Road Church of Christ with Rev. Keith Wishum officiating. Pallbearers include grandsons and great-grandsons. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Research Center, 640 Jackson St., St. Paul, MN 55101, or call 1-800-229-2872. They also suggest Gentiva Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Metha and Russell Conley of Americus and Shelia and Steve Reeves of Americus; two sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Underwood of Americus and James and Peggy Underwood of Almo; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Starling of Columbus and Jackie Carswell of Ellaville; nine grandchildren, Tracy Parker, Katie Lucas, Lesley Miller, Tanner Underwood, Blake Underwood, Lindsey Underwood, Josh Reeves, Tim Reeves and Kyle Reeves; twelve great grandchildren, Crissy Pugh, Nikki Flynt, Russ Pugh, Austin Harbuck, Lee Parker, Logan Parker, Reid Miller, Russ Miller, Jake Underwood, Ty Underwood, Callie Underwood and Alyssa Underwood; two great great grandchildren, Kade Harbuck and Keyton Harbuck; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Underwood in 2001 and a grandchild, Rusty Conley.
