Obituary for Roy Lester Peacock, Jr.

Roy Lester Peacock, Jr., age 85, of 4567 Stage Coach Road, Andersonville, died Tuesday, February 03, 2015, at Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Americus, he was born March 14, 1929, the son of the late Roy Lester Peacock, Sr. and Ruth Lewis Peacock. He was the owner of Peacock Garage and Towing as well as Suburban Self Storage. He was a member of MB Council Lodge #13 F was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the board and he was also a member of the Advisory Board for Automotive Technology at South Georgia Technical College. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Amermac Tire Trust. Roy always had a joke, a coke, a peppermint and peanuts for everyone who came to see him at his office. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 12:00 PM, at Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. Keith Wishum officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the residence of Ron and Susie Peacock, 632 Hwy 280 E. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Peacock, Jr., Roy Daniel Sr., Butch Killabrew, Rod King, Tim Cromer, Harold Cannon, Buddy Holloman, Mike Hardester and Charles Strickland. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709, Oglethorpe Baptist Church, 210 N. Sumter St., Oglethorpe, GA 31068, or a charity of one’s choice. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Jo Peacock, of Andersonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Rhoda Peacock, and Ron and Susie Peacock, both of Americus; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Saranne Peacock, of Americus, Sr.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mary Beth and Brock Greene of Ellaville and Curt and Joanna Peacock of Americus; and two great grandchildren, J. B. Greene and Cutter Greene. He was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Deriso.
