Obituary for Raymond Edward Halstead

Raymond Edward Halstead, age 59, of 442 Bob Dodson Rd.,Plains, died at his residence Tuesday, October 9, 2012. A native of Americus, he was born December 15, 1952, the son of the late Charles Edward and Fannie George Halstead. He was employed at Hickory Springs as a truck driver and loved hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, daddy and pawpaw. His family was his life. Services will be held Friday, October 12, 2012, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Earl Dunmon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 11, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence, 442 Bob Dodson Rd., Plains. Pall Bearers include Tony Halstead, Thomas Stewart, Mark Halstead, Rodney Halstead, Darryl Cox, Cody White, Shawn Pritchard and Billy Jones. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Melody Halstead of Plains; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tori and Jonathan Scott of Americus and Melissa and Tyler Gary of Ellaville; a son and his fiancé, Christopher Halstead and Lauren Faircloth of Americus; two sisters, Rachel Ruhland and Rosemary Cope; a brother, Rayford Halstead and sisters-in-law, June Halstead,Brenda Halstead Joy Davis and Jerrie Sellers; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daniel and Ann Pritchard and a mother-in-law and her spouse, Lillian and Roy Crosby. Seven grandchildren, Jacob, Gavin, Cole, Ethan, Sylvia, Leigha and Alex. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Russell and Roscoe and also a grandchild, Austin Gary.
