Obituary for Manuel Page LaPaz

Manuel Page LaPaz, a 39 year resident of Richland, GA., passed on March 16, 2012 to begin his eternal life with his heavenly father. A native of Tampa, FL., he was born May 16, 1928, the son of the late Manuel LaPaz and Urey Bell Page LaPaz Emerson. He served in the US Army and fought in the Korean War. Manuel became a successful business man and relocated to Columbus, GA in 1959 with S.H. Kress Company. He later became the business owners of Tony’s Pizza and General Jackson’s Dixie Fried Chicken. Mr. LaPaz relocated to Richland, GA in 1973 with his wife and family where he became the proud owner of Hilltop Quality Foods. Mr. LaPaz was also a very successful Pecan Growers in Stewart County, GA since 1973 until the present time. He also was a past member of the Columbus Rotary Club. Manuel loved the Lord and was a member of the Deerfield Estates Baptist Church in Richland, GA. He had a positive influence on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Harmony Cemetery in Richland with Rev. Jerry Rae officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, March 19, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Deerfield Estates Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, Ga. 31719. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Theresa LaPaz of Richland; a daughter, Tina LaPaz of Columbus; five sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Linda LaPaz of Carrabelle, FL, James and Lori LaPaz of Atlanta, Daniel LaPaz of Richland, Jimmy and Misty Renfroe of Cusseta, and Garry and Mylynn LaPaz of Charleston, SC; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
