Obituary for Larry Everett

H. Larry Everett, Sr., was born in Americus, GA, July 19, 1933 to the late Ernest Jackson Everett and Gladys Allene Williams Everett. He graduated from Americus High School and was active in basketball and football. He received an Associates Degree from Georgia Southwestern, where he was on the basketball team. Immediately upon graduation, he began a long career with Life Insurance Company of Georgia, following in his father’s footsteps. When his career took him to Montezuma, he met and married his wife of 58 years, Lynn Johnson Everett, who survives him. Larry was a member of Central Baptist Church and enjoyed being active in several churches through the years. He remained a faithful member of the Lions Club. He was passionate about his primary hobby, golf, and was hoping that one day his health would permit him to play once again. He was devoted to his family, which includes four great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Central Baptist Church in Americus with Dr. Bryan Myers and Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will follow.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lynn Johnson Everett of Americus; sons: Rusty (Susan) Everett, Randy (Charlotte) Everett, and Rick (Debora) Everett; grandchildren: Dan (Rachel) Everett, Brandon (Becca) Everett, Lauren (Jefferey) Everett Eschmann, Ben Everett, Casey Everett, and Megan Renfroe; and great-grandchildren: Dylan, Jordan, Brandt, and Emmy. Also surviving are a brother-in-law and first cousin, Doug Everett and his wife, Janice Johnson Everett, only sister of Lynn. Close relatives, Fred and Rita Sawyer, along with several nephews and cousins, also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Everett (Dee,) and Lionel “Bud” Everett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to: InterHope, P.O. Box 700788, Wabasso, FL 32970-5659 or to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 190 Upper River Rd., Americus, Ga 31709.
