Obituary for Jonathan Andrew “Andy” Jackson

Mr. Jonathan Andrew Andy Jackson, age 27, of Ellaville, died late Tuesday afternoon in Macon County. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Smithville City Cemetery in Smithville with Rev. Steve Giglio officiating. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are Cole Williams, Chad Hett, Josh Cannon, Scott Storey, Hershel Turner, Jon Michael Butler, Stevie Lowery, Brian Sherret and employees of Frucon Construction.\r\n
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 17 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. At other times friends may call at the residence of his parents, Larry and Carol Jackson, 288 Smithville-Leslie Hwy., Smithville.\r\n
Mr. Jackson was born November 22, 1981, son of Larry and Carol Jackson of Smithville, whom survive him. He was a 2000 graduate of Lee County High School, a 2003 graduate of South Georgia Technical College in Welding and Joining Technology, State Skills USA winner in welding twice, fourth in Skills USA Nationals in welding and was sixth place in the nation to represent the U.S. in Olympic Welding Competition. Mr. Jackson was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed playing pool and Texas Holdem, was a former employee of Bird Buggies in Lee County working under Mr. Jim McBride who taught him how to weld. He was currently employed with Weyerhaeuser in Oglethorpe and was a member of Leslie United Methodist Church.\r\n
Survivors other than his parents include his wife, Teri Jackson of Ellaville; one daughter, Skylar Ann Jackson of Byronville, two step-daughters, Skylar McKenzie Stowe and Dixie Stowe of Ellaville, sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Kris Peek of Ellaville; maternal grandmother, Martha High of Americus and paternal grandparents, John and Bea Jackson of Leslie. His mother and father-in-law, Sandra and Luke Paulk of Ellaville; a niece, Madelyn Dunston and nephews, Nathan Jackson and Doyle Peek; aunts and uncles, Brenda and Troy Gilliam, Doyle Jackson, Stefannie and Chip McCook, Christopher and Sheena Saint, Joan and Tony Loyless and Cheryl and Floyd Matice also survive.\r\n
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence Saint and one uncle, Thomas Saint.\r\n
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the South Georgia Technical College Foundation, P. O. Box 6102, Americus, Ga. 31709 for the Andy Jackson Welding Scholarship at the Crisp County Center.
