Obituary for John David Turner

John David Turner, age 80, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 18, 2021 at his residence. Born in Plains, on May 23, 1941 to the late James Conley and Minnie Lee Williams Turner. David was born again, saved, in 1972 one night returning from a Men’s Bible Study when he realized he was a sinner and needed Jesus to save him from the wrath of God. David grew up in Americus and graduated high school at Union High in Leslie, where he met his longtime sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Mary Elizabeth Turner.
A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Brian Myers and Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to service.
David is survived by his wife Mary Turner; three children, James Clayton Turner, William Hugh Turner (Cindy), and Tonya Elaine Turner; nine grandchildren, Jaymes (Kara), Wil (Megan), Hughston, Merritt Turner, Turner Ingrassia, Lara Caroline, Emma, Hudson, and Ellis; and a sister Sue Chambliss.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Rd. Americus, GA. 31709.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Connie Heath, Nancy Hamilton, Tommy Turner, and Jimmy Turner.
