Obituary for Joe Benjamin Youngblood, Jr.

Joe Benjamin Youngblood, Jr., age 68, of Americus, died at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Sunday, April 5, 2015. A native of Reynolds, he was born July 8, 1946, the son of the late Joe Benjamin Youngblood, Sr. and Hazel Youngblood Smith. He loved hunting, fishing and his grandchildren. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he always wanted to help others. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Wilhoite and Lee Sawyer officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 7, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Honorary pallbearers include Marvee Willis, Robert Millwood, Jimmy Cannon, Johnny Castleberry, Bill Hanson, Steve Pinnell, Dennis Smith and Reagan Etheridge. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ronald McDonald Charities Inc., 26345 Network Place, Chicago, IL 60673-1263 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, JoAnn Youngblood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Billy Kelly of Americus, Sundie and Randy Avery of Ellaville; two sisters, Montine Gresham and Audrey Youngblood, both of Reynolds; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Mary Youngblood, Rusty and Mary Ann Youngblood, and Barney and Brenda Smith, all of Butler; five grandchildren, Brook Kelly, Trevor Avery, Dallas Avery, Joseph Storey and Shannon Youngblood; and his beloved dog “Lucky J Youngblood”. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Youngblood.
