Obituary for Herschel Shannon White

Mr. Herschel Shannon White, age 74, formerly of Plains, died Sunday, September 19, 2010, at Warner Robins Rehabilitation Center in Warner Robins. A native of Americus, Mr. White was born August 4, 1936, the son of Charley Esco and Barbary Lucile White. He loved gardening, raising produce, hunting, fishing and working with his hands.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lowell Layman officiating. Burial will follow at Union Methodist Cemetery in Marion County. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 21, 2010, from 6 until 8 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Huntingtons Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave., Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine White of Perry, Gail White of Americus and Sandra White of Perry; three sons and daughters-in-law, Shannon and Rolynda White of Perry, Gary White of Las Vegas, NV. and Tony and Linda White of Americus; two brothers, Benny White and Harvey White of Americus; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles White and a grandchild.
